The Friday Fix Story Prompt for July 31st, 2020
Theme: Free Play
It’s our final week of July at The Friday Fix!
This month is going to be all about music. I’ve steered away from it the past few months, but at this point I better let my instincts guide me.
Music is a great equalizer. It can bring people together, regardless of who they are, where they’re from, and what they believe in. Right now seems like a fitting time to listen to and discuss music.
The songs used as inspiration this month will cover a broad spectrum. The one key similarity is that all of the songs will be “easy” on the ears. Other than this single element, anything is fair game.
By the way, what are you listening to right now? Feel free to let us know below.
Story Prompt for Friday, July 31st, 2020
Alright, lets end July with a proverbial bang. It’s your turn to choose a song!
The plan for this week is simple:
- Think of a song that you consider “easy” on the ears.
- Feel free to post a link to the song and lyrics (if you need a hand with this, just send me a note/message on your draft).
- Use a line/word from your selected song to write a fifty-word story.
Happy writing, everyone. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with. Who knows, maybe by the end of this we’ll all have a pool of new music to draw from!
Below are some honorable mentions — songs I almost selected for our July prompts:
“Harvest Moon” by Neil Young
“Wasting Time” by Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats
“Wishlist” by Pearl Jam
“Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac
“Ever” by Team Sleep
